first step of the northern shore

Out beyond world's end we stopped
the fort with jagged moat.
followed on the walls kept on with duck ramps all about
with endless wave and endless marsh did we tread our trepid way
and though these bones did homeward find the treacherous path was laid
and each you bend where we were set, caught tangled and disuade
we know each and every fisher's tale is cast and carefully weighed.

now fearless reader stop ye not for on our trek our sight be set,
O'er waders rock and buzzards swept our swift and sound return assure,
aid by local maids, cross hill and lap and trammeled back
past old and new familiar lands past them and home have we been kept, as iron lines have set.
swept on and on again, as world had ended now grown again our injury did decrease
the knees that knock off on metal stead recover as true they will for sight we had of northeren sea and circle she we will
